Day 2 – Fiction is the truth inside the lie

‘Fiction is the truth inside the lie’ – Stephen King

When creating this blog, I did try coming up with my very own tagline. Although I did come up with a few, it did not feel ‘right’. I wanted my blog to represent me as a true person. So I decided to go online in search for quotes from inspirational people. That was how I found an inspirational quote from Stephen King. To be honest, I don’t remember how, or where, I found the quote. I’m not lying. I really don’t remember. And even though it’s not my quote, it represents me and what I’m about. It also represents me as an author, who likes to write through experience, with a touch of fantasy and imagination. At the end of the day, it’s up to those reading my works to figure out what is the truth inside the fiction. I couldn’t write without experience. It’s the only way to make what I write come to life. And so, I ‘borrowed’ Stephen King’s quote and used it as my tagline. I like it and I’m proud of it. Even though this blog is my open journal, it is also a place where I find the inspiration to write. And all my inspiration begins with ‘the truth’.

Along with the tagline, I looked through some old family albums for a picture of me. I then came upon one (the one above) of me at a very young age vacationing in America. I actually did a post on this. Link to it is right below.

The photo captured my attention. I immediately knew I had to use it for the blog. When I uploaded it and put it up on the blog, it looked just right. Just the way I like it. Even for me, just by looking at the picture, it gives out a sense of mystery, especially with the view of me not being that clear. Even I wonder “what the hell was I doing?” My husband thinks I was doing the Gangnam Style. Overall, the picture looks calm and yet mysterious. It kind of fits in with my tagline as well.

  1. It does look like you are doing the Gangnam Style 🙂 I like your tagline … nothing wrong with borrowing a quote if it suits you and your blog. I look forward to reading more from you 🙂

    1. Hahaha you too. Maybe I was the original inventor of that dance move. Thank you very much for being supportive 🙂

  2. I love the quote and it is so true. “Truth is stranger than fiction” is another of my favorites. As a big reader of fiction especially sic-fi/ fantasy, I realized long ago the deepest most controversial truths always have to start as fiction. People hate the “naked truth” but wrap it in a parable or fairy tale and the will listen, laugh or cry and eventually think . . . and hopefully see the truth within.

    1. I agree. Who knows, maybe everything around us, even the movies, means something. But we have to think and figure out what it is. In a way it does sound slightly creepy…….
