My three different opening lines:

“Papa, I’m going out for a walk.”

“Fang Yin, wait!”

Uncle Foong hurried out of the kitchen to stop his daughter.

“I won’t be gone long. I’ll be back before dinner.”

Uncle Foong raised an eyebrow indicating that he knows something.

Fang Yin couldn’t wait to see Bing Wen. She had overheard from a few neighbours that he was moving back. It has been seven years since she last saw him.

“Papa, I’m going out for a walk.”

“Fang Yin, wait!”

Uncle Foong hurried out of the kitchen to stop his daughter.

“Fang Yin, I know where you are going. I know you are going to see him. But listen to me. Things have changed. You have changed. He will not understand, nor will he believe you.”
